Ergodic Theory of Interval Exchange Maps
VIANA, Marcelo

Palabras Clave: Interval exchange map;Translation surface; Abelian differential; Teich m¨¹ller flow

Resumen
: A unified introduction to the dynamics of interval exchange maps and related topics, such as the geometry of translation surfaces, renormalization operators, and Teichm¡§uller flows, starting from the basic definitions and culminating with the proof that almost every interval exchange map is uniquely ergodic. Great emphasis is put on examples and geometric interpretations of the main ideas.

Stability Estimates for an Inverse Problem for the Linear Boltzmann Equation
CIPOLATTI, Rolci | MOTTA, Carlos M. | ROBERTY, Nilson C.
113
Palabras Clave: Inverse problems; Albedo operador; Stability estimates

Resumen
: In this paper we consider the inverse problem of recovering the total extinction coefficient and the collision kernel for the time-dependent Boltzmann equation via boundary measurements. We obtain stability estimates for the extinction coefficient in terms of the albedo operator and also an identification result for the collision kernel.

Global Gronwall Estimates for Integral Curves on Riemannian Manifolds
KUNZINGER, Michael | SCHICHL, Hermann | STEINBAUER, Roland | VICKERS, James A.
133
Palabras Clave: Riemannian geometry; Ordinary differential equations; Gronwall estimate

Resumen
: We prove Gronwall-type estimates for the distance of integral curves of smooth vector fields on a Riemannian manifold. Such estimates are of central importance for all methods of solving ODEs in a verified way, i.e., with full control of roundoff errors. Our results may therefore be seen as a prerequisite for the generalization of such methods to the setting of Riemannian manifolds.

On the Kauffman-Harary conjecture for Alexander quandle colorings
ASAMI, Soichiro
139
Palabras Clave: Kauffman-Harary conjecture; Alexander quandle

Resumen
: The Kauffman-Harary conjecture is a conjecture for Fox¡¯s colorings of alternating knots with prime determinants. We consider a conjecture for Alexander quandle colorings by referring to the Kauffman-Harary conjecture. We prove that this new conjecture is true for twist knots.

Riemann and Klein Surfaces with Nodes Viewed as Quotients
GARIJO, Ignacio C.
145
Palabras Clave: Riemann surfaces with nodes; Klein surfaces with nodes; Groups of automorphisms

Resumen
: If G is a group of automorphisms that acts properly discontinuously on a Riemann or Klein surface X, then there exists aunique structure of Riemann orKlein surface on X/G such that the projection ¦Ð : X ¡ú X/G is a morphism. The analogousresult is not true when we deal with surfaces with nodes. In thispaper we give a new definition of a group that acts properly discontinuously on a surface with nodes in order to obtain a similar theorem.

Sharp Estimates of the Embedding Constants for Besov Spaces
EDMUNDS, David E. | EVANS, W. Desmond | KARADZHOV, Georgi E.
161
Palabras Clave: Besov spaces; Lorentz spaces; Embedding norms; Rates of blow-up

Resumen
: Sharp estimates are obtained for the rates of blow up of the norms of embeddings of Besov spaces in Lorentz spaces as the parameters approach critical values.

Cartan Subalgebras, Weight Spaces, and Criterion of Solvability of Finite Dimensional Leibniz Algebras
ALBEVERIO, Sergio A. | AYUPOV, Shavkat A. | OMIROV, Bakhrom A.
183
Palabras Clave: Leibniz algebra; Cartan subalgebra; Weight space

Resumen
: In this work the properties of Cartan subalgebras and weight spaces of finite dimensional Lie algebras are extended to the case of Leibniz algebras. Namely, the relation between Cartan subalgebras and regular elements are described, also an analogue of Cartan¡¯s criterion of solvability is proved.

ALBEVERIO, Sergio A. | AYUPOV, Shavkat A. | OMIROV, Bakhrom A.
197
Palabras Clave: Leibniz algebra; Cartan subalgebra; Weight space

Resumen
